I've never been in a movie or written a book. I have been on TV several times, the radio and the subject of a few newspaper articles. None of this makes me special or qualifies me as anything out of the ordinary. I read blogging is a way for people to pass along their knowledge, whatever the subject might be. I know some stuff. I actually know a little bit about a lot of stuff. My son is 25 years old. I will be married for 30 years in May 2011. I have been a professional golfer, a golf professional (they're very different), an IT guy, network administrator, trade show organizer, video conference equipment salesman and technician, a teacher (golf), a student, a computer programmer, a website developer, a father, husband, son, brother and a home, car, and pet owner. There has to be some accumulation of knowledge after all that. Like I said, I know some stuff.
Of all the things I've done, the one thing I never did was write a book. The one thing I always wanted to do, is write a book. This blog isn't exactly a book but it might be the closest I ever get. That's where the title of this blog comes from in case you were wondering. My book was going to be titled, "A Three Iron to Nowhere...So You Want to be a Golf Pro". The first part of the phrase is credited to an old golf buddy, Jeff Wecker, who's best shot was the lay up on a par five. This particular shot, as most golfers would know, requires no specific distance and really no specific target. His point being, when there was no consequence good or bad, he was great.
Tim Ferris, author of "The Four Hour Work Week" and "The Four Hour Body" said, "write about what you want, not what people want you to write about." Since there aren't going to be any consequences good or bad, it will be my "Three Iron to Nowhere".
